Personal Styling Enquiries: A Brief Before the Booking

“I want to update my wardrobe” is not yet a brief for personal shopping. The client may want new combinations from existing clothes, a work wardrobe or an outfit for an occasion. Offering a package and time immediately can mean agreeing the wrong scope.

For an independent personal stylist, a useful enquiry path clarifies the goal, compares formats and agrees the output before confirming the session. This guide provides a short brief, a service comparison and a confirmation message. Telegram can carry the conversation; BotMarketing.pro presents services and receives time requests, while the stylist decides whether the project fits.

Explain the difference between a consultation, wardrobe edit and shopping

A service name should tell clients what they receive. State format, scope, session duration, output, fee and support boundaries. Explain preparation time and delivery deadlines separately: they do not automatically become unavailable hours in the booking calendar.

Example scopes for three personal styling services
FormatWhat you might agreeWhat needs a separate agreement
Initial consultationDiscuss the goal and constraints; recommend a next format; provide a short session summaryA review of every item, a completed capsule or shopping selections
Wardrobe editA defined part of the wardrobe for a season or purpose; outfit combinations; a list of gapsPurchasing clothes, visiting shops or an unlimited review of the whole wardrobe
Personal shoppingAn agreed shopping list, budget and store route or online selection; session length and final materialsClothing costs, delivery, alterations, returns or unlimited messaging afterwards

These are examples of agreements, not an industry standard. Replace them with your actual offer. Event work brings a fixed date and other people’s preparation into the brief; the wedding stylist enquiry article covers that organisational setting.

Separate your fee from the clothing budget. “What is your budget?” can produce one number that includes both. Ask about the service, purchases and possible extra costs independently. No planned purchases is a useful constraint too, rather than a reason to offer shopping by default.

Use a short intake brief before requesting every photograph

The first brief should help choose a suitable next step. You do not need photographs of every garment, a full set of measurements or a home address before knowing whether the format fits. Explain which materials are needed once the work is agreed.

You can send this template as a message. It is not a built-in BotMarketing questionnaire:

Please tell me:

  1. What situation is the wardrobe for, and what is difficult at the moment?
  2. Do you want to use existing clothes, buy new pieces or choose a format first?
  3. Would you prefer remote or in-person work? Please give your city for in-person work, or time zone for a remote session.
  4. Is there a deadline for the result, and which days could work for a session?
  5. What is your purchase limit, and what have you allowed for the styling fee? It is fine if these are undecided.
  6. What should we preserve or consider: favourite pieces, comfort, dress code, accessible retailers or other constraints?

“I don’t know yet” is a valid answer. If budget or scope is unclear, clarify the missing point or offer a distinct consultation with a clear fee. An initial question should not become an automatically ordered full package.

Ask for materials appropriate to the agreed stage

For a wardrobe edit, you might then request photographs of selected garments and some usual outfits. For shopping, ask for priorities, sizes relevant to the selected categories and retailers that deliver to the client’s location. An initial consultation may only need a description of the goal and a few voluntarily chosen examples of preferences.

Explain why each input is needed, where to send it, who will see it and how long you retain it. A photograph without a face may be enough to discuss clothing; avoid requiring personal pictures that are unnecessary for the stage. Permission to publish client outfits is a separate decision from supplying materials for the work.

Receive the request and confirm the agreed service

BotMarketing.pro service cards have a price, description and duration. Use the actual full fee for a defined consultation. If a project still needs scoping, do not list it as a free service priced at zero: direct the client to a discussion or a separately defined consultation on its actual terms.

Service orders and goods baskets follow different paths. A Telegram service card has no add-to-basket button, and clothing stock does not establish the stylist’s availability. Booking needs enabled reservations, an eligible service and an active schedule; the complete session interval is checked.

In the Mini App, the client chooses a service and time and can leave a comment. It creates a linked order and a Requested reservation, saving the comment in both. The comment allows up to 1,000 characters: include a short brief summary and send additional materials through the agreed communication channel. The platform does not convert it into separate budget fields, select a package or accept the project automatically. The stylist reviews it, clarifies the scope and confirms the session separately.

  1. Check the goal: the selected consultation addresses the request; recommend another format if it does not.
  2. Agree the scope: included items or tasks, deliverables, sessions, questions and when support ends.
  3. Check the time: meeting link or location, time zone and duration. Account separately for travel and preparation in your own availability.
  4. Record fee and next action: service, purchases and additional costs separately; materials and deadline; payment, rescheduling and cancellation terms before acceptance.

If the client asks for an in-person edit instead of the consultation, a comment does not extend the original interval. Agree the appropriate service and check its availability. When booking against an existing order, use that connection to avoid ordering the same stage twice. New paid work requires a separate agreement.

Your entire portfolio does not have to move into one channel. The Telegram, Instagram and website comparison explains their different roles. For this process, a clear service link and an agreed place to communicate are enough.

Confirm the output and next meeting in one message

In this fictional example, the client wants to review work clothes and is not planning purchases. The stylist has scoped a 90-minute remote session, combinations from selected pieces and a short gap list. Dates, duration and scope are illustrative, not a real client story or a standard package.

Let’s agree a remote workwear edit on 16 October, 6:00–7:30 pm [time zone]. We will cover office clothes for the current season. The service fee is [amount and currency]; purchases, personal shopping and other parts of the wardrobe are excluded.

Please send photographs of the selected pieces and three usual outfits to [agreed location] by 14 October, following the instructions. If there is more material, we will agree any change to scope, time and fee first.

By 19 October, I will deliver a file with the agreed combinations and gap list. One round of clarification questions about that file is included until 23 October. Payment and rescheduling: [agreed terms]. Please confirm that the format, fee and output suit you; I will then confirm the time.

Keep the agreement alongside the working materials: stage name, file version, delivery date and agreed question deadline. This is the stylist’s working record, not a promise of built-in project management. If preparation is late or the task changes, discuss its effect on scope and timing before confirming the new arrangement.

After delivery, follow-up should reflect the client’s need. If they want to purchase missing pieces, you could write: “The list still has [priorities]. Would you like to discuss shopping as a separate service? We can agree budget and format first, then I’ll offer available dates.” Do not reserve a session or promise clothing availability before an answer and a check.

Test the path with your own contacts in three situations: an undecided format, an edit without purchases, and a scope change just before the session. Each should leave the client clear about the service, fee, output, available time and their next action. That is more useful than sending the same new-package offer to everyone who has ever enquired.
